Gladlee of Guernsey

The East Mediterranean Yacht Rally 2004

The 2004 Rally started in Istanbul on the 25^th April visiting the Turkish harbours of Bozcaada, Ayvalik, Ceşme, Kusadasi, Bodrum, Orhaniye, Goçek, Kekova Roads and Finike (693 miles) before arriving in Kemer on 13^th May. Most of the participants, like us, started the Rally in Kemer. We did not take Gladlee on the Rally instead crewed for our good friends Frank and Tari on their 57-foot sailing catamaran "Vision". With Hasan, Frank and Tari were the committee though lots of other people were involved setting it all up.  Somehow Kemer Marina managed to squeeze in all the extra boats, as the starting line-up was 108 boats.  They were split into 8 groups depending on size, the smallest was group 1 and largest, group 8. Each of the groups had a group leader and were identified by a colour. Ron and Julie were ‘volunteered’ as group leaders for group 8 (red group) as we were on "Vision".
