SUNDAY
WALK
28th October
Our first of the season.
Just a short one?? to the Roman Bridge. Depending on what you did with your clocks the previous night we all
met up at either 08.30, 09.30 or 10.30 and Peter and Hasan led us off on what was a beautiful day, especially
after the previous days rain. En route a few people were noticed obtaining their free lunch (fruit from the
locals gardens), a number of comments were heard about how lovely, easy or difficult the walk was and one in
particular about only having contracted for one and a half hours walking?? |
Sunday Walk (cont’d):
We all enjoyed our picnic
lunches down by the river, some opting to buy beers and others opening bottles of wine. Hasan tells the editors
that the walk was approx 16Km in total though for those who managed to get lost on the return it may have been
somewhat more (Ron, Julie, John etc). Special mention must go to Irma (S/y Sugvogel) for completing the walk.
Maybe we should all use a walking stick for future walks!! Very good participation for the first walk with the
following “enjoying” the day:
Tary & Frank - Vision
Irma & Rudy - Sugvogel
Jean & Bob – Patient Lady
Stuart – Lady Aelious
Chen & Peter – Hae Twen
Cristal & John - Bluesipp
Trevor - Tarella
Daphne & Jim - Quintessence
Janny & Klaus – Maria Mia
Teneke & Chris - Rotirik
Ulla & Ingemar - Cocktail
Marge & Vic – Ice Maiden
Julie & Ron - Gladlee
Gillian & Brett – Blue Bayou
Monika & Hans – Akinom
Hasan – The boss

Definitive Definitions:
Sailing
- The fine art of getting wet and becoming ill, while going nowhere slowly at great expense. |

Knotty Wind
Problem:
A quick
formula for converting knots to Beaufort and vice-versa:
Knots/5 + 1 = Beaufort,
Beaufort –1 X 5 = Knots.
This works on centre range up
to F8.

Smart by Nature
The rain brought out lots of ‘land’
crabs, seen on the Sunday walk, though unfortunately some of them didn’t understand the Highway Code! A toad
was also spotted by the roadside. Around the marina you can see many different birds including the Great Tit,
Black Redstart, Pied Wagtail, Gulls and Long Legged Buzzards in the sky, as well as sparrows!

Notes
Diesel combustion produces 1
gallon of water per gallon of fuel. This combines with sulphur in fuel to make sulphuric acid which is then
washed into the lubricating oil and pumped to all internal surfaces and bearings. When engine is idle the acid
stays on the bearings and eats them, when engine is used the acid washes away. |
