August - December 2017

After Julie's Birthday Party we flew back to the UK and then over to the U.S. on 9th August. We then spent 10 weeks on 'Harvey Too' touring Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. These diaries can be found at America Summer 2017.

29th Oct

The start of a long trip, six hours to Baltimore, a four hour layover, a seven hour trip to Heathrow, overnight in Wellingborough then, for Ron, back to Heathrow and a flight to Larnaca. Julie is staying in Wellingborough for an extra few days over her Mum's birthday.

November

We returned to Cyprus at the beginning of November and immediately got back in to hashing and meeting up with friends. Also, getting used to our new house as, although we had moved in before going away, we hadn't actually lived in it.

24th/25th/26th Nov - Panto, Peter Pants Paphos

Fun evening at the "Adult" Panto - That's Nice! The view from the "Club St George" hotel

About 20 or so hashers headed to Paphos for the annual adult panto - all in aid of charity of course. Great accommodation at Club St George and a real fun weekend.

December

The start of Christmas Party Season.

2nd Dec - Larnaca Hash Christmas Party

Amazing what a few glasses will do Ian having a better day

First of the Christmas parties, as usual, the Larnaca Hash do at the Flamingo Hotel saw everyone get in the spirit of things for the coming month.

7th Dec - Bridge Lunch Christmas Party

Julie's Bridge group Santa dishing out the gifts

9th Dec - Polygon Hash Christmas Party

The Top Table (including Julie's brother Phil) MC for the night - yours truly!

The Polygon Hash Christmas bash, yet again at the Sun Hall Hotel, who as usual really did us proud. Great food, lots of drink and good company. Followed, as usual, by what is becoming the traditional visit to the Stone Pub on bar street by about half a dozen of us.

15th Dec - Dhekelia Hash Christmas Party

A new one for us this year. Julie has started going to the Dhekelia Hash so, of course, we are invited to their Christmas bash.

17th Dec - Larnaca Hash Christmas Fun Run

Another tradition - the annual Fun Run through the streets of Larnaca stopping at various locations to sing a carol or two. And of course a couple of visits to local taverns on the way round.

25th Dec - Christmas Day

Enjoying lunch in the sunshine... ...and what a lunch

Our now traditional Christmas dinner - al fresco! Up into the ruined village above Kalavasos for a quick hike and then BBQ to re-heat a pre-cooked Christmas feast.

26th Dec - Boxing Day Party at Frank and Jenny's

The annual Egg and Spoon race The annual boozy crowd

Yet another tradition. Boxing Day party out at "South Fork" otherwise known as Frank and Jenny's place. We had been invited to stay over this year so were able to down a little bit more of Franks whisky collection than normal. Of course the price to pay was that we had to go down the pub to watch football after. Tough life.

30th Dec - Ann and John's 50th Wedding Anniversary

The lovely and loving couple Another loving couple?

Our neighbours and friends, Ann and John, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year and hosted a dinner at the local tavern - Kokkos. Lots of fun including the staff who gave us some fancy dress entertainment and of course who can forget Franks rendition of Michael Jackson strutting his stuff - as much as we would like to!! And afterwards we all ended up in our new bar.

31st Dec - New Year's Eve Party Trish

Trish and Ron - under the stars! Ladies of leisure

Oh God! More tradition. Trish's annual New Years Eve party. Luckily within walking distance so no problem with drinking and driving.

This is of course followed by New Years Day breakfast at ours for all those who lodged with Trish and ourselves. So - Ron managed - despite the hangover - to cook a full English breakfast for sixteen people. Coupled with a little 'Hair of the Dog' everyone seemed to enjoy the morning.

Followed by:  Afternoon drinks and snacks at Mandy and Ian's place up in the hills of Lefkara. A really nice afternoon and a good way of finishing off the festive season.
