Mum's Visit - 4th - 18th February 2009

Wednesday 4th February

Mum arrived. Checked in to Mar Bay Hotel - nice condo room with living room with full kitchen facilities and double bed, separate bedroom with en suite bathroom. North Miami Beach Ale House for dinner.

Thursday 5th February

Pottered around - went to Blue Water Books (closed down), Sailorman's but very cold so didn't linger and food shopping. Had half hour walk on Hollywood Broadwalk. Took dinner to Mum's room.

Friday 6th February

Drove down to the Everglades National Park. Walked the Anhinga Trail and had sandwich lunch at Lone Pine Lake. Stopped at Robert's on way back. Went for drinks at the marina, then Hometown Buffet for dinner.

Saturday 7th February

Went to flea market at end of Atlantic Shores. Kings Head for drinks then dinner on board.

Sunday 8th February

Drove down to Key Biscayne and walked at Billy Bragg NP and looked at No Name Harbour. Chatted to yottie. Drove back through South Beach and had late lunch at Billy's Crab.

Monday 9th February

Drove up to Festival Flea Market up on Sample Road. Had lunch in Food Hall. On to Frank and Tari's. Went for dinghy ride to bar and then back for dinner - Ron cooked stew. Stayed overnight.

Tuesday 10th February

Across to Loxahachee NP and walked the boardwalk and then round the waterponds. Saw alligator with young. Did Denny's on the way back.

Wednesday 11th February

Went to Brian Piccalo park to see owls. To King's Head for dinner.

Thursday 12th February

Drove across to Shark Valley in the Everglades. Didn't do tram trip but walked. Lots of alligators, even on the tarmac path. Had picnic lunch in car park. J drove part way back.

Friday 13th February

Dropped in to Oppenheimer's. Did water taxi at Los Olas, lunch at Downtown Saloon. Went to Cheesecake Factory and then took taxi back over and walked to the beach. Brought cheesecake back for dock party then took Mum home.

Saturday 14th February

Breakfast at flea market. Dinner at HWB cafe at Hollywood boardwalk

Sunday 15th February

Drove up the Green Cay and walked the boardwalk. Lovely hot day and interesting walk. Sandwich lunch. To Frank and Tari's for their 6th anniversary. Also there were Walt and Evelyn, Wayne and Steve and Karyn. J had swim. Dinner in dining room - good evening. Drove home.

Monday 16th February

Drinks at Upper Deck then dinner at Hometown Buffet.

Tuesday 17th February

Went for walk on nudist beach. Filled up propane bottle, shopped. Sandwich lunch on board. Had dinner at King's Head

Wednesday 18th February

Denny's for brunch, then dropped Mum at airport.
